Information You Choose to Send
Terms Entered in Search Tools
When a visitor types a name, location, or other term into a search tool, the entry is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider handles the request under its own terms and privacy practices. Oscoda County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. Visitors should avoid entering details that are not needed for the search and should review the provider’s policy before submitting a query.
Messages Sent to the Site
An email or contact-form message may include the sender’s address, name, and any information placed in the message. We retain that material as needed to read the request, respond, keep a record of the exchange, and address misuse or technical issues. Contact messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law, including a valid legal demand. Sending a message does not create an attorney-client, government-service, or records-custodian relationship.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Normal web operations can produce technical and usage records when a page loads. These records help maintain performance, understand traffic, and spot faults or abuse. Depending on the visitor’s device and the services used on a page, the data may include:
- The internet protocol address associated with the request
- The browser name and browser version
- The device category and operating system
- The pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- The referring page or website, when supplied
- Dates and times connected to visits or requests
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies may be used to remember preferences, measure how visitors move through the site, and support analytics or advertising. Browser controls can block or delete cookies. Some functions may respond differently, lose a saved preference, or work less smoothly when cookies are disabled. Third-party services can set or read their own cookies under their policies, and those cookies are not controlled by this site.
Purposes for Using Information
Information is used only for ordinary site, search-routing, support, measurement, advertising, and security functions. The main purposes are to:
- Operate the site and keep pages responsive
- Send search requests to the selected partner service
- Measure which Oscoda County resource pages are useful
- Diagnose errors, misuse, and other technical problems
- Present advertising that may relate to a visitor’s interests
Privacy Beyond This Website
Links may lead to Oscoda County or Roscommon County sheriff resources, Michigan Department of Corrections pages, court and federal locators, legal-aid material, or outside search services. Official records may be subject to the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 through 15.246, but this site does not control an agency’s response or records system. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination’s privacy notice and data practices apply.
Advertising partners may use cookies or related technology on their own systems to recognize activity across different sites and select interest-based ads. That cross-site processing occurs through the partner’s services, not through a record maintained by Oscoda County Released Inmates. Visitors should consult each advertising provider’s controls for its opt-out choices.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may still be transmitted or disclosed when needed to provide a requested feature, measure the site, fund its operation, or comply with the law. Potential recipients include:
- Search partners that process a visitor’s submitted query
- Analytics providers that measure visits and performance
- Advertising networks serving or measuring advertisements
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Reasonable Security, Not a Guarantee
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information under the site’s control. Even careful safeguards cannot make an internet-connected service fully secure. Transmission failures, unauthorized access, software flaws, and events outside our control remain possible. No promise is made that data will never be lost, exposed, altered, or accessed without permission. Visitors should use care when deciding what to include in a message or submit to an outside search provider.
Use by People Under Eighteen
Oscoda County Released Inmates is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted personal data may use the Contact Us page to request review and deletion. We will take reasonable steps to remove information under our control after the request and the relevant facts are verified.
Choices About Personal Data
Rights differ by place and circumstances. Subject to applicable law and a reasonable identity check, a visitor may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal information held about that visitor
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Erase personal information when deletion is legally available
- Stop or opt out of certain processing where the law provides that choice
Changes to This Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice may be revised as site features, providers, or legal obligations change. An updated version takes effect when it is posted here with a new effective date. Visitors should return to this page from time to time, especially before submitting information through a new feature. Continued use after an update means the revised practices apply to later activity.
